Session Seven

Creating websites a school website shouldn't be trivial, that's why we have to do some research on what to include in a school website, how to build it and so on.

After explaining this to the pupils, the tasks were  devided among the different groups.

The photos group
The about our school group
The about Hammam-lif group
A group about the vision, the philosophy of the school.
The website creation group, Aymen Felhi and me. Aymen was of great help and displayed advanced skills and I awarded him the Coding and Blogging Hero Badge, which I created.

Visit Aymen's Blog to see his other badges

Suggestions ...  he wrote his suggestions in a blog post. Most of his ideas were accurate.

Session Five is about Creating blogs on Blogger

Most of the students have previously created their gmail accounts. During this session they'll learn how to create a blog on blogger. I used a slide showing each step to follow. After creating their blogs, they create an about me page where they write a paragraph to introduce themselves. The links to the students blogs are on the widget side bar.

Act for your Planet!

One of the hottest global issues is enviornment problems. In this episode the N.H.S. radio addressed this topic from their stand point. Spare some time and listen before it's too late!

Done in the framework of the campaign to collect plastic caps to help a student with special needs get a wheel chair.  We give the recycler the quantity of plastic caps we collected in exchange of an amount of money (relative to the quantity of collected caps) , Emel Tounes can then get the wheel chair. By such deeds you give hope to people, you act for your community, you change someone's life. The podcast and the campaign aim at raising students and the community awareness of those in need, and that help can be sometimes a random act of kindness. The motto used was "Don't change the world, be the change you want to see in it!"

Digital Literacy for all Students

In this podcast students talk about the importance of digital literacy, that is one dimention of the project, and call for a campaign to raise plastic caps to donate to the NGO we are collaborating with.

Students using VOKI

Both Rahma Belarbi and Kawla Mohsni created a voki talking about child labour, which is a topic dealt with in  one of their lessons. What is wonderful is that they did it when no teacher asked them to do; and that's how technology impacts students motivation to learn. So I just invite you to Click the links and listen to what the voki characters have to say.

Aymen Suggestions to Make the School Website

Reposted from AF blog
Greetings, As we're currently working on the establishment of our school website, I wanted to make sure that I put my suggestions on the table. First of all, on the first page (the home page) only a welcome message should be displayed. This welcome message with information about the website and/or the school as whole such as: Historical information about the high school (when was it established, past directors etc.) Ways to contact the administration (phone numbers and so on) Hosters of the website and its administrators Purpose of the creation of the website etc The home page should be well designed along with using a sophisticated linguistic style. Now moving to the web pages-- I've been thinking about creating those web pages as they seemed, in my opinion, important: STAFF: This web page will be divided in two: "School Administration Staff" and "Website Staff" or "Website Administrators". School Administration Staff will contain the headmaster, administration officials that deals with access cards, nursing officer, school director. The roster of Website Administrators will, as the title says, contain the list of website administrators and hosters. INFORMATION CENTER: Any announcement, whether issued by the school director or any other entity, should be posted on the web page. An example of this announcements is the CSS week and before-CSS week. CONTACT US: A web page where all the ways on how to contact any school official entity will be posted in there. FAQ: "FAQ" is an abbreviation of the word frequently asked questions. Surely, you or your parent will have questions on mind but they can't find answers. Well this section will solve it all. If anyone has any questions, he will almost find the answers in there. CLUBS: This web page diverges into X amount of sections depending on the number of clubs we have. For example if we have a Handball Club and a Radio Club then it will be diverged into two sections. Each club section will contain informations on how to join this club, and news related to it so that the public gets updated with anything that occurs. STUDENT LIFE: Students will get the chance to write anything they want there, or write anything that they faced on a certain day or period. This web page can have a post verification option so that any post in there will need to be approved by an Administrator to avoid the use of a offensive language(s). ALBUMS: Album of photos reated to the school PARENT ZONE: A section designed for parents who have any questions or inquiries of if they want to share something. NEWS & EVENTS: Title says it all. Any event or any news will need to be published in here. SCHOOL PRESS: I guess we should have a school press so why not having Press Releases section? it'd be wonderful! Oh and yeah, we should make sure that NO COPYRIGHTS are being violated. The common violations are the use of other entity(ies) Graphics without the owner(s) approval(s). Those are just few ideas. I will update this post when I have more! Thank-you.

La Retraite c'est le Pied!

May your retirement be such that every day seems like Sunday!

"La retraite c'est le pied monsieur !", said Mrs Bouarada. Mr H'wass... now you can relax, no more stress of exam-paper correction, no more lesson plans to prepare. You've devoted long years of your life teaching students French literature and arts, but you've mainly taught them  life lessons, that they would be grateful for. You can relax because you know you've left your footprint in shaping a genarations education, combatting people ignorance, and building the nations fuuture. Here in Nabheni, we'll always remember you .

Our gift for you is a symbolic act, your best gift is knowing how well you served your nation!

We celebrate Writing Day

One special event in our school was the writing day. Teachers and students  worked hard to organize, prepare, and celebrate what the pupils pens had poured. Students, motivated, amazed their teachers and displayed an unexpected creativity and imagination, both needed for writing.

By organizing such an event we aimed at boosting the students talents by knowing that  what they write is for a real public. Students writings were displayed in pinboards and a comittee of teachers selected the outstanding students papers for a prize. Without the devotion of our teachers, especially Mrs Wertateni, the event wouldn't have been such a success!
